I met Alexey Mozgovoy on March 2014, in the woods near the city of Lugansk. The first interview of “Lugansk partisans” to the Russian press. He shined the headlights to Bolotov in a mask. All day we drove around the [Lugansk] region with him, visited Cossacks, met different people. Then there was a falling out with Bolotov and a withdrawal to a field camp at Stanitsa Luganskaya. That’s where the “Ghost” brigade was born.
In November I didn’t recognize Mozgovoy, it was a completely different person who in 10 months has been through more then others go through in twenty years.
I don’t believe into any “sweep by Surkov’s saboteurs” and “a showdown with Plotnitsky”. The situation is a mirror of Nemtsov scenario. Online there is a howl of infallible adherents of Novorossiya. Exploding with tons of curses towards Putin, Plotnitsky, Zakharchenko – therefore the object for assassination was picked perfectly. It is strange that they no longer remember Akhmetov. Mozgovoy was not a great commander, strategist or tactician, whose death would behead the army. No. But Mozgovoy was a Personality, whose death will sow internal discord on the eve of active hostilities.
The target was “ideal”. I already heard from the arm chair analysts, who don’t believe in “ukrop DRG” [Ukrainian subversive-intelligence group] near Lugansk. Domestic analysts don’t know that even now near Lugansk, near Donetsk one can easily be delivered to ukrops by navigation, simply by making a wrong turn. And, similarly one can arrive from the other side.
Lesha is gone, but he will be remembered for a long time. I have no doubt about it. Rest in peace, a real Warrior, direct and honest man.
