In Poland during the NATO exercise BALTOPS-15 a Polish military amphibious vehicle had sunk while returning from the shore to the transport ship “Lublin”, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

The incident occurred at the Central air force polygon in Ustk at about 10:30 a.m. (11:30 GMT). Floating transporter was flooded by a sea wave. Two soldiers who were in the armored vehicle, were evacuated by rescuers who were onsite in pontoons. Their lives are not in danger.

Currently, the transporter is located a hundred meters from shore at a depth of about three meters. It will be removed from the water as soon as conditions permit. The causes of the incident are not reported, a special commission is investigating.

NATO exercises with the participation of five thousand troops from 17 countries have been going on in the Baltic sea for two weeks.
