Almaz-Antey publishes MH17 investigation results

NPO Almaz-Antey has only just finished presenting the results of its analysis of what happened to the Boeing 777, shot down over the Donbass during the summer of 2014. Igor Korotchenko posted photographs from the presentation on his twitter account, with comments:

The Boeing was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile.

Conclusions: The Boeing was shot down by a Ukrainian Buk. The Russian Federation withdrew missiles of that specific model from production in 1999. Ukraine still had 991 of them as of 2005. Almaz-Antey is prepared to conduct a natural experiment to confirm the results of the computer models.

Update–from Interfax

“We have unimpeachable evidence that the UAF had that type of missile at their disposal,” Almaz-Antey General Director told journalists.

He said that Almaz-Antey conducted pre-contract work in 2005 on extending the Ukrainian missiles’ shelf life. “At that time the UAF had 991 missiles of that type,” Novikov added.

Update 2. Interfax:

The content presented by Almaz-Antey at its press conference contained only the materials from the Preliminary investigative commission report supplied by Netherlands, Novikov said in reply to media comments that the presentation used fake photographs of the airliners.

“Articles claiming that we used fake photographs purporting to be evidence of the Malaysian Airlines plane crash, published by a number of media outlets of June 2, have no connection with reality,” Novikov said in an press release.

Novikov also noted that the enterprise is ready to make available the presentation materials in order to familiarize all doubters with the results of the investigation that was carried out by its specialists.
“We are also prepared to carry out a natural experiment: carry out a 9M28M1 warhead explosion under conditions approximating the intercept as show in our presentation,” Novikov reminded.
