Russian Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance
(Rosselkhoznadzor) has banned the importation of fish and fish products from
fourteen Norwegian companies, reports RIA “Novosti” on Monday with
reference to the service

Earlier it became known that the Norwegian
authorities refused to allow the Rosselkhoznadzor specialists to inspect the
fish factories, that is unprecedented.

Previous inspections done by the Russian side
showed that the vast majority of Norwegian enterprises were not ready to carry
out the demands of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian economic Union
legislation and safety requirements, which led to the imposition of
restrictions on their activities.

Note that currently the supply of fish
products from Norway is banned under the food embargo, which Russia imposed in
August 2014 in response to Western sanctions. Last June, the Russian
countersanctions were extended until August 5, 2016.
