“Poroshenko: Ukraine is, was, and will be a 100% unitary state”

President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko once again assured that he will not allow changes to the unitary state system of Ukraine. Interfax-Ukraine reports that he stated this at a meeting of the Council of Regional Development.

“I once against strongly emphasize that Ukraine was, is, and will be a 100% unitary state, even if our enemies want to change this unitary system. We will not go for this,” Poroshenko said.

In addition, the Ukrainian president stated that no country other than Ukraine is allowed to influence changes to the Ukrainian constitution.

“The constitution will depend exclusively on the Ukrainian people…not one paragraph, and not a single one of its lines will be written in Moscow, Brussels, or Washington D.C., but in Kiev!”, he added.

Petr Poroshenko stressed that reform concepts include effective measures to prevent any manifestations of separatism.

The president once again stressed that decentralization “has nothing to do with federalization.”

“In no way will I allow decentralization in matters of defense, national security, foreign policy, fighting corruption, or protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens,” Poroshenko said.
