The opening of the fifth season of the Night hockey League

At the Big Ice Palace in Sochi the new, fifth season of the Night Hockey League was opened with a match between veteran players of the team “Stars of the NHL” and the NHL team. Vladimir Putin took part in the game.

The President greeted to the participants and guests of the 5th all-Russian hockey festival among amateur teams to mark the start of the fifth season of the Night Hockey League.

Vladimir Putin:

Dear friends!

Today we open the fifth season of the Night hockey League. I congratulate you with this event.

Thanks to our hockey stars of Soviet and Russian time this project became successful. Thank you, dear friends, for your contribution to the development of the Night Hockey League!

And of course, I welcome and congratulate with this event the amateurs, like myself for example, people who did not engage in this sport professionally, as our outstanding players.

What I want to say: I thank you not only for your personal involvement, but also for your example encouraging millions of our citizens to engage in physical culture and sports, and not only hockey – all kinds of sports: wrestling, athletics, gymnastics, and shooting, and all.

The one who moves and strives for victory, will certainly achieve it. Good luck to all!
