Russia aims to send only aircraft carrier to combat “Islamic State”

Heavy aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov” is Russia’s only aircraft carrier, and this weekend it will go from Murmansk to the shores of Syria, said FlashNord source in the Northern Fleet command.

“The cruiser dock repair is complete and at the end of the week it will go to the coast of Syria, where it will join the operation to destroy the group “Islamic State”, – a spokesman said.

According to him, from May to August this year, the aircraft carrier was held for 82 repairs in a Shipyard in Roslyakovo (Murmansk region). Now, after being docked in Murmansk,   the restoration is complete, and it is ready for full combat. Since September 30th, Russia has carried out air operations in Syria with the aim of destroying the objects of the “Islamic state.”
