According to radio “Svoboda”, this was announced by Verkhovnaya Rada deputy Georgy Logvynsky.
According to him, Berlusconi has violated the order of entry to the territory of Ukraine, as in September he visited Crimea. In addition, Berlusconi is accused of “misappropriation of property”, stated Ukrainian member of parliament.
“We declare that regardless of status and position, we will prosecute each and everyone and Berlusconi is no exception,” – said Logvynsky.
According to radio “Svoboda”, Logvynsky also showed reporters documents from the state office of public prosecutor and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), confirming that the criminal proceedings have begun.
Earlier, the SBU banned Berlusconi from entry to Ukraine for three years “in the interest of security”.
In September, Berlusconi came on a private visit to Crimea, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Berlusconi is one of the few European politicians who fully supported the position of Russia on the Ukrainian crisis.
He described the actions of Western diplomacy towards Russia after the unification with Crimea as “reckless and far from constructive spirit”.
In addition, the veteran of Italian politics criticized the decision to suspend the meetings in G8 format with Russia, calling it “anti-historical and counterproductive.”
Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum in which the overwhelming majority of people at that time of still Ukrainian autonomy, who did not recognize the legitimacy of the February coup d’etat in Ukraine, voted for accession to Russia.
Moscow maintains that the referendum in Crimea complies with international law and the UN Charter. Ukraine still considers Crimea its temporarily occupied territory.
