“Plotnitsky awards rank of guard to former ‘Zarya’ battalion, now the Second Brigade of the LPR People’s Militia”
In the presence of servicemen of the Second Motorized Rifle Brigade of the People’s Militia of the LPR, Igor Plotnitsky signed a decree on the assigning of the rank of guard to the military unit. This was reported by Lugansk Information Center.
The event began with laying flowers and garlands at the Memorial of Glory to Warriors who died for the freedom of the LPR. Afterwards, in the presence of soldiers in the hall of the Ukrainian drama theater on Defense street, Plotnitsky signed a decree conferring the honorary rank.
“For the mass heroism and bravery, fortitude and courage displayed by the personnel of the brigade in combat operations in defense of the Fatherland and the state interests of the LPR, the Second Motorized Rifle Brigade of the People’s Militia of the LPR is hereby assigned the honorary title of ‘Guard,'” the head of the republic read the decree.
“It all began with a small squad of militiamen, and then the full battalion “Zarya,” and then, the Second Motorized Rifle Brigade,” he recalled.
“You were the first to receive the battle flag of the LPR, and you carried it with honor at Debaltsevo,” Plotnitsky added.
“We have lost many. Eternal memory and glory to them. But for those alive there are new tasks already set before the Guard Motorized Rifle Brigade,” the head of the LPR appealed to the servicemen.
Plotnitsky congratulated the personnel of the brigade with the rank, and also awarded medals of the LPR and certificates from the head of the Republic to distinguished servicemen. After the ceremony, a festive concert took place with the participation of creative collectives of the LPR.
