Poroshenko approves foreign military presence in Ukraine for “Partnership for peace exercises”

Petro Poroshenko has signed a law which approves the decision of November 6 “On the admission of other states’ armed forces units onto the territory for Ukraine for participation in multinational military exercises.” This was reported by the press service of the president.

According to the relevant decree from November 6, 2015, No. 626/2015, units of the armed forces of the United States, NATO members, and other states participating in the “Partnership for Peace” program (with up to 2,500 servicemen with weapons and military equipment) will be allowed to participate for up to 61 days in November-December, 2015 in multinational exercises on the territory of Ukraine. 

The law was adopted on November 12 and fulfilled the procedures stipulated by the Constitution of Ukraine. The report says that it will come into effect on the date of publication. 

The exercises will begin on November 23, 2015 and will be held at the Yavoriv polygon.
