An American Hellfire missile of class “air-land” ended up in Cuba by mistake. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the newspaper the Wall Street Journal.
In 2014, a missile without a warhead participated in NATO exercises, held in Spain. After the manoeuvres the munition was supposed to return back to their homeland, in the United States. However, it suddenly appeared at the airport in Frankfurt and then in Paris.
From the French capital, the missile somehow went to Havana on board the aircraft of Air France. It still remains in Cuba, despite all attempts from the American side to return the ammunition. US authorities are dissatisfied with this situation, because the loss of this rocket can mean the leaking of sensitive military technologies.
From mid-December 2014, the White house has embarked on restoring relations with Cuba. So in April of last year bilateral negotiations between the heads of States took place for the first time since 1956.
On 1st July it became known that the U.S. and Cuba will open their diplomatic missions, and on 20th July the country officially re-established diplomatic relations with the opening of the Cuban Embassy in Washington.
