The army will always be the first priority, no more pacifist illusions. This was stated during the “Lessons of courage” with the Kiev students and cadets, which was broadcasted on channel “112 Ukraine”, said by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“A strong state is impossible without a strong army, and we learned that lesson very well. I’m here to give you, our children and grandchildren, an absolutely clear guarantee that the army will always be the first priority of the Ukrainian President. No more pacifist illusions”, – said Poroshenko.

As a reminder, on 29th January 1918 at a railway station of Kruty, 130 km North-East of Kiev, there was a fight between the Bolshevik army of Mikhail Muravyov and a detachment of Kiev students and soldiers of the Cossacks, which generally consisted of about 400 warriors. The battle lasted five hours. 28 boys were in captivity and were then shot. By sacrificing their lives, they stopped the enemy’s advance for two days.
