Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s visit to a nuclear power plant in Rivne region turned into a complete embarrassment.

As was reported by the website of the President of Ukraine, whilst speaking to nuclear scientists, Poroshenko said the following:

I congratulate you. This winter was the first winter, when, despite the fact that the Russians have completely cut us off from the gas, putting the gas price 30 percent lower than the European price, and Ukraine has found the strength to say “No, thank you” – said Poroshenko .

According to him, “They won’t succeed to put us on our knees, and we know its difficult”.

Before, Petro Poroshenko, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, had repeatedly stressed that Kiev’s desire to import gas from European Union countries is only for economic reasons — it has been alleged that it costs more than Russian gas.

“Gazprom” earlier reported that the gas price for Ukraine in the current quarter will be $212 per one thousand cubic meters.
