The new year’s address of Poroshenko has caused a storm of emotions among bloggers. A few minutes before the New year, the Ukrainian leader excitedly shared with citizens his thoughts about how the Ukrainian military managed to stop the alleged attack of Russia, and that the “worst is over”.

In his words, “peace and tranquility, freedom and independence, prosperity and unity – these are the aspirations of every Ukrainian“.

In his speech, the President mentioned the need to combat corruption and “foreign enemies”, and couldn’t resist to remind the citizens about their proximity to Europe.

“It is symbolic that on the eve of holidays we are making several important decisions on the European Union. We didn’t cut open a window to Europe, we widely opened the door,” he said proudly.

Internet users believe that Poroshenko “got carried away” and that he was “lost out on the steppe”.
