Syria’s Foreign Minister, Walid Muallem, said that the authorities are prepared to participate in negotiations scheduled for 25th of January. Muallem stated this during a meeting in Damascus with the UN special envoy on Syria, Staffan de Mistura. The talks, which are scheduled to discuss a possible settlement of the situation, will be held in Geneva.

Muallem noted that there is a need to create a list of opposition figures who will come to the meeting, and a list of terrorist organizations is required.

The UN special envoy for Syria expressed hope for the active participation of all parties in the negotiations. Until January 25th, Staffan de Mistura will complete consultations with all the participants in the process of resolving the situation.
