This was stated in the message on the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure. The demonstration container train on January 15th, will depart from Ilyichevsk on the route of Ukraine—Georgia — Azerbaijan — Kazakhstan — China.
“This route is a new trend of the “silk road” and an alternative that will allow the redirection of flows in an easterly direction bypassing the territory of Russia. It includes a ferry crossing of the Black and Caspian seas (Ilyichevsk — Batumi, Alyat — Aktau-Port) and should be competitive compared to traditional land routes,” noted the Ministry.
As was noted in the message, to run the container trains an agreement on the alignment of technology, accelerated delivery times, tariff conditions, and certain operators of the trains was made.
“The demonstration journey will be open to alternative ways of the delivery of cargoes from Ukraine to the countries of Central Asia. The approximate composition of the container train will be 20 cars,” stated the Ministry of Infrastructure.
