Witnesses interviewed about the involvement of Mikhail Khodorkovsky in the assassination of the former mayor of Nefteyugansk, said that he had heard that without the participation of the former head of Yukos this crime would not have been committed, according to a state-appointed businessman’s lawyer.

Witnesses pointed to the involvement of the former head of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky to the murder of the former mayor of Nefteyugansk Vladimir Petukhov in 1998, said a state-appointed businessman’s lawyer.

“All witnesses who have testified against him are in custody. They say that someone has heard that without the participation of my client this crime would not have been committed,” said the lawyer in a hall of the Moscow city court on Wednesday.

In this case, the defender expresses the opinion that this information cannot be considered a direct confirmation of the possible guilt of Khodorkovsky.

Now the businessman is abroad and, as reported, is not going to return to Russia.

At the same time, according to the lawyer, Khodorkovsky is not hiding from the investigation and “Is in no way impeding the investigation.”

“He is not included in the investigation as he is not guilty”, said the lawyer.
