Without Russia, a solution to the Syrian conflict will not be found, said the Chairman of the left faction in the Bundestag, Dietmar Bartsch, on a German TV talk show. In debates with his opponent, the commander of the U.S. Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, he noted that the words of the American President Barack Obama that Russia is a “regional power” are absolutely unacceptable.

“Without Russia, we will not find a solution in Syria. It is necessary to have urgent negotiations, which are needed to achieve a truce. We have a duty to act in the region with Russia. It is wrong that someone calls Russia a regional power, trying to prove that his country is a world power…”, said the German MP.

As a reminder, the USA, NATO officials and the Pentagon have repeatedly described Russia as not only a “regional power”, but also the enemy.

The candidate for the post of Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, U.S. General Joseph Dunford, speaking before the Senate Committee on Capitol hill, said that the greatest threat to U.S. national security is Russia. Earlier, the Minister of the U.S. air force, Deborah Lee James, said that Russia is “the biggest threat” to U.S national security.
