Economic cooperation between Russia and Bahrain, as well as the situation in the Middle East were topics of the talks in Sochi between the heads of the state Vladimir Putin and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Before the talks, the Russian President stressed that Russia welcomed the opportunity “to discuss our bilateral relations and to talk about the situation in the world and above all in the region.”
“Despite the rather difficult situation in the economy, however, we continue to create a need for the expansion of our mechanisms for cooperation. Bahrain is an important partner in the Gulf and throughout the Middle East,” quotes “Interfax”.
“This is a good opportunity to talk, to exchange viewpoints on issues related to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and common interests,” said the King of Bahrain.
He assured that his country is always ready to cooperate with Russia.
[O.R: Also noteworthy is the King calling Putin “My brother”, which will no doubt annoy al-Saud immensely]
