Donbass Under Fire Again Before the Holy Sunday

The Holy week has ended; in temples the sound of festive bells ring out. But in Donbass there is troubling news.

As you know, the contact group in Minsk agreed on ceasefire from today. Civilians were relieved that they do not have to spend Easter in shelters, however, experience suggests that officials and the UAF live in some parallel reality, as reality and paper do not match. Moreover, the de-mining actions of the UAF and the number of heavy military equipment moved to the contact line looks more like an impending breakthrough in Gorlovka, Mariupol, and near Donetsk, than in preparation for the next truce within a truce. In the direction of Gorlovka, DPR intelligence found an increase in heavy UAF machinery – 18 tanks, 15 units of BM-21 “Grad”, and four howitzers.

Just in Donetsk and Gorlovka three tank battalions were spotted.  In recent days the attacks did not stop. The roar was heard in the evening of April 29th before dawn, from time to time, the Donetsk army listened to the echo of the guns in the daytime. In the neighborhood of Trudovskoy, Zelenyi Hai street was shelled. The settlements of Staromykhailivka, Aleksandrivka, Spartak, the village of Oktyabrsky, Volvo centre, and the airport were also shelled.  Also under fire were the industrial area of Avdiivka, Yasynuvata, Dokuchaievsk, and in the South – Kominternove, Sakhanka, and Zhabichevo.

So that’s how the UAF comply with the Minsk agreements. Thus, the soldiers of the DPR army have no reason to trust the discipline of the Armed Forces and nationalist battalions, for which the Minsk agreements are not a “sacred cow”. So there is no time to calmly go home to celebrate the holiday in May – the militia are preparing to repel a possible attack.

The Interior Ministry of the DPR stated that for the period of the May holiday, policing in the Republic will involve about 4,000 law enforcement officers, who will work in a strengthened capacity.

We hope that Easter and Bright Week will be peaceful. And if not yet victorious, it is not bloody.

The power of the truth, good is stronger than evil. Let the holidays be joyful. And the words “brothers and sisters” may sound not in official statements and reports, but in Churches and in religious processions.

With the Resurrection of the Lord!
