The special representative of the German government in the framework of chairmanship of the OSCE Gernot Erler offered to impose sanctions for violations of the Minsk agreements.
He stated this at the Annual OSCE conference for reviewing problems in the field of security.
“The problem is that violations of the Minsk agreements remains virtually unpunished. We need to think whether it can remain like that,” he said.
In his opinion, “all are already tired of the mutual accusations (about the violation of the truce in Donbass)” and “the political process is being impeded”. “Agreements should be observed by all parties,” says Erler.
He also called on all parties to the conflict to adhere to the agreements on a ceasefire, to provide unimpeded access for observers, and to stop the destruction of surveillance technology of the monitoring mission.
