First Tuesday of November, as viewed in France: Clinton less safe for the world’s children

“the personality of the next occupant of the White House will be fateful not just to the United States, but for the rest of the world.”

We were among those who saw the the ballot of the next US presidential election well in advance. Donald Trump, appointed by the Republicans, will face Hillary Clinton on November 7. This is unfortunate – and I get it – but the personality of the next occupant of the White House will be fateful not just to the United States, but for the rest of the world. Or, in the expression made famous by “The guignols of info,” for the remains of the world!

In an interview with CNN, Marine Le Pen assures us that “for the interests of France,” it would have to be “anybody but Hillary Clinton,” which in effect supports the candidacy of Donald Trump. The candidate for the French presidential elections in 2017 did not fail, either, to say that the Democratic candidate represents “war, destruction, and a world destabilized,” and that she would consequently be “a devastating choice for the well-being of “[her] people.” In sum, contrary to what the French media — often themselves  misinformed — Hillary Clinton is a neoconservative like the others, like George W. Bush.

In 2002, back when Hillary Clinton was only a former first lady turned senator from New York, she made the choice to vote in favor of the intervention in Iraq. This vote, moreover, prevented her return to the White House in 2008, as recently recounted in the New York Times. We expect great leaders to learn from their past mistakes. Yet Hillary Clinton nevertheless decided in 2011 to attack Libya, destabilizing North Africa for the foreseeable future.

The consequences were terrible, and will continue to have effect: maximized migratory crisis, resurgence of jihadist Islam in this region, Algeria weakened by the struggle going on it the neighboring Libya…

Imperialist or millenialist, Bill Clinton’s wife has an extended  approach to the US role in the world. She, however, made sure that Libya got attacked,  with a multiplicity of diplomatic trips to get the support of the international community.

13 Hours, most recent and best film from director Michael Bay, previously better known for a rich cinema stunts and poor in history, focuses on a little known episode in the Libyan war, unflattering to Hillary Clinton. In September 2012, a US ambassador was killed in Benghazi by an Islamist militia. A first since 1979. Hillary Clinton is accused of lying and of having turned her back on US citizens, deliberately ignoring distress calls by a group of former elite soldiers hired by the CIA.

The Libyan adventure convinced Obama to be less interventionist. Not so Mrs. Clinton, who has ardently pushed for a massive military intervention in Syria. If elected, there is no doubt that that she will follow her deep convictions, making the world less safe for our children. In addition, Hillary Clinton supports all the communitarian delusions pervading the times across the Atlantic, playing racial divisions the better to get elected. We bet she will make use of her charms to influence domestic policy in this area, cleverly knowing how to handle hard power in the Middle East and soft power in Western Europe …

Donald Trump is not Theodore Roosevelt, and some of his personality traits may justly disturb. Nevertheless, he is now the less dangerous of the two, no offense to our media and our political class.
