According to the opposition Center-Right, Shhaideh would be a supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The President of the Republic, Klaus Johannis, a member of the Center-Right, now for the second time has vetoed the proposed candidate for prime minister from the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The SDP won the election of December 11 with 45% of the votes.

“I have carefully analyzed the pros and cons and have decided to reject the claim. I have asked the SPD to put forward another name,” said Johannis.

Former Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu, said: “I’d like to see how she could get the clearances for access to Defense and NATO classified information.” Before Shhaideh the SDP had to give up naming its leader, Liviu Dragnea, as there, against him, a long-standing criminal and Romanian law excluding those who have been cnvicted from government.
