The Ministry of Defense of Russia is proposing to strengthen the army group deployed in the Southern Military District due to the situation in the South-East of Ukraine and the threat of international terrorism. This was announced on Wednesday, January 25th, by Defense Minister and Army General Sergey Shoigu.
According to Shoigu, the military-political situation in the strategic southwestern direction remains unstable. “[This area] can be negatively impacted first and foremost by the situation in the South-East of Ukraine and the operations of international terrorist organizations and groupings in the North Caucasus,” Shoigu said at a meeting of the Ministry of Defense.
