Back in 2015, Obama named the three main security threats to the United States; ISIS, Ebola and Russia. Many experts in Russia were outraged to be placed in the same list as a terror organisation and a virus. Since then, scapegoating and framing of Russia for all the world’s ills has become somewhat of a trend in Western political circles and mainstream media.
It was not so long ago that political scientist Francis Fukuyama published his famous thesis on ‘the end of history’ as the culmination of the ‘liberal world order’, in which the transplanting of American style democracy to almost every country on earth was deemed a favourable achievement of civilisation. Of course, the whole thing was a farce, intended only to secure hegemonic interests, under the guise of “freedom and democracy.”
Today, Russia is no longer at the mercy of the IMF and World Bank, which means the elites no longer have leverage and can no longer have unrestrained access to that which is not theirs to take. That’s got to be inconvenient to some.
In this outtake, political scientists discuss why Russia is being painted as the source of the world’s evil. Specifically, they mention German diplomat Ischinger’s address at this year’s Munich Security Conference, which highlighted certain gaps in logic due to the West’s manufactured media and information ‘reality.
