Russian vodka production in January 2017 up 66 percent
The production of vodka in January 2017 went up by a whopping 66 percent compared to the same period last year. This can be seen in the monthly report of the Federal Statistical Service (Rosstat). A total of 44 million liters of vodka were produced in January.
Also, champagne and wine producion went up 7.9 percent compared to January 2016. This represents an increase of 5.43 million liters.
732 million liters of vodka in 2016
A total of 732 million liters of vodka were produced in 2016, as shown in the monthly report for December 2016. This represents an increase of about 16 percent compared to the previous year.
Export 2016: Germany record customer
Of this total, 49 million liters, 7 %, were exported abroad. This can be seen in the annual report of the Russian Center for the Study of Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets ZIFFRA. With 6.9 million liters of vodka, Germany became a record importer in 2016. Germany imported nearly half a million more than the second place Ukraine.
Other major customers were Great Britain (3.5 million liters), the USA (2.5 million liters) and Latvia (1.7 million). Exports to Ukraine and Latvia declined. More was sold to Germany, Bulgaria, China, Latvia and the USA.

According to the ZIFFRA report the most popular rands abroad are”Russkij Standart” with a gross of about 160 million euro and “Parliament” (113 million euro).
