The Iranian military has successfully tested its Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile complex in war games, Iran’s Tasmin agency reports.

“The intended targets were hit and destroyed by a rocket launch from this complex,” the agency’s report reads.

According to media reports, Iranian specialists carried out a series of tests of the Russian air-defense system during the Demavend exercises involving the testing of different scenarios for repelling potential threats. During the testing, officers worked through the stages of the detection, identification, interception, and elimination of targets with the S-300.

The contract with Russia for delivering a S-300 to Iran was signed in 2007, but its fulfillment was suspended with a ban adopted in the form of Resolution 1929 on June 9th, 2010 by the UN Security Council which prohibited the transfer to Tehran of modern weaponry, including missiles and missile systems. Last year, after the Big 6 concluded the nuclear deal with Iran, the ban on the delivery of the S-300 was lifted.
