Only 400 thousand Ukrainians are officially registered in employment offices, but the real number of unemployed in Ukraine is 1.9 million.

This was stated on TV channel ZIK, by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Pavlo Rozenko.

“Today, only 400 thousand Ukrainians are registered in employment offices. In particular, those people register who are eligible for unemployment benefits. However, to date, the actual number of unemployed is about 1.9 million Ukrainians”– said Rozenko.

Deputy Prime Minister said that the labor market in Ukraine is officially about 18 million Ukrainian workers, however, employment taxes are only paid by around 11 million people.

“As for the working population in Ukraine, it is people from 15 to 75 years. However, it is evident that at 75 years, no one works. Moreover, in Ukraine people simply do not survive to such an age. So while the labour market is listed to be 18 million, only 11 million people are paying taxes. So here we have the Ukrainian budget deficit formula” – he said.
