Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan responded to remarks, previously made by the US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, by saying “Wahhabi takfirists and other terrorists commit crimes in several parts of the world, namely in Syria and Iraq, while using American-made weapons and equipment.”

The words of Dehghan come in the wake of statements, previously made by Mattis, shortly before his arrival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Mattis said that Saudi Arabia is one of the most important allies of the United States and demanded the Houthi rebels to stop launching their Iranian-made rockets at Saudi territory.

Dehghan responded by saying that the American strategists and experts know that the era of assassinations, accusations, fabrications and interventions is now gone and advised the US Secretary of Defense to review the history of America’s military conflicts in Vietnam, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, and now in Syria and Yemen where lots of war crimes and crimes against humanity are being committed.

He then said it would be better for US officials to focus on solving America’s internal problems and not entering the new swamp by provoking new crises or igniting new fires in Korea or the Middle East.

Regarding Yemen, Dehghan stressed that the Yemeni people rely on their own capabilities and are bravely facing the aggression of the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and which is backed by the United States, and will continue to do so until their final victory.
