An attempt to smuggle elements of a 30 mm caliber anti-aircraft gun into Poland from Ukraine was thwarted at the border crossing in Dorohusk. Two Ukrainian women tried to illegally bring the cannon parts, which were declared as “hydraulic elements.”

The Polish Press Agency’s reports on this have been confirmed by the spokesman of the special services ministerial coordinator, Stanisław Żaryn, who confirmed that the Lublin detachment of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and other services took part in the action. Żaryn added that the incident took place on March 31st.

“As a result of a customs inspection at the border crossing in Dorohusk, an attempt to bring into Poland elements of a 30 mm caliber AK-630 artillery system was thwarted. The cannon with lock of Soviet production was transported by a delivery van with Ukrainian license plates. The weapon was declared to be a hydraulic element. Officers detained the two female citizens of Ukraine driving the car,” Żaryn said.

The spokesman explained that the ABW secured the cannon and, together with police and customs officers, searched the destination where it was to be taken and other places. As a result, two more people of Ukrainian nationality were detained and 1,300 contraband cigarette packs were confiscated.
