British paper The Times revealed that Libyan-born terrorist from Manchester, Salman Abedi, who blew himself up at Ariana Grande concert in Manchester Arena on Monday evening, recently returned from jihad in Libya.

According to the report, published in The Times, the police and intelligence agencies are still trying to find out whether Abedi received any terrorist training at jihadist camp in Libya, where ISIS and Al Qaeda are currently jointly fighting against the Libyan forces.

A school friend of Abedi said the latter returned from Libya last week, after spending three weeks there.

Security sources stressed it’s highly important to know who made the bomb, given the difficulty to manufacture the particular form of improvised explosive device without receiving external support.

Born in 1994 in Manchester, Abedi was a son of Libyan migrants who were on the run from Gaddafi’s government. He was a university-dropout and was known to the British security services due to his involvement with the radical groups, however, it is not known why closer attention was not paid to him, especially after his return from Libya.

On Monday evening, Abedi blew himself up at Manchester Arena, during the concert of the US pop star Ariana Grande. 22 people were killed, children among them, and some 60 were left injured.

The terror attack also forced the British authorities to raise the level of terror threat from “severe” to “critical” (the highest one).

On Wednesday, 3 people were arrested in southern Manchester in connection with the attack.
