“Dispute with Qatar needs to be resolved before the end of Ramadan”, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Bahrain ‘s Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu also said Turkey would continue with efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis in a peaceful manner, saying the Turkish military base in Qatar serves as a guarantor of security in the Gulf region as a whole and not just for particular countries.

Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a decision to send his troops to Qatar in an attempt to express his support for the government in Doha after the latter was accused by Saudi Arabia and fellow GCC states to be supporting terrorism. The bill has since been approved by the parliament.

For his part, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Qarqash, said there will be no dialogue unless Qatar commits itself to stop funding and supporting terrorism.

Qarqash stressed the solution to the current crisis lies in changing the regime in Doha due to its staunch support of terrorism.

Meanwhile, the German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel warned the current Gulf crisis could escalate to a war, should the tensions continue to rise, adding there is still a chance to calm the things down and prevent the worst.

Gabriel pointed to what he described as “severe blunt in relations between allied countries and neighbors in the Gulf”, during the recent talks with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, some of whom also confirmed his fears.
