Water tariffs in the Ukrainian government controlled portion of the DPR are on average seven times higher, than the tariffs set for people of Donetsk. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the DPR, Vitaly Kizhaev.
“Due to the fact that Ukraine has in the past three years increased by several times the price of water services, water rates for consumers residing in the temporarily beyond our control areas of Donbass, were higher than in the Donetsk People’s Republic, on average, by seven times “, – he said.
According to him, the last increase in tariffs in Ukraine of about 15 percent was in May this year.
“Now the residents of Donbass, residing in the territory temporarily under the control of Ukraine, pay 20.35 hryvnia per cubic meter, which is more than two times higher than the cost for business entities in the same area (8.41 hryvnia per cubic meter) and seven times higher than similar rates in the wider Republic “, – he stressed
The comparative table of tariffs for water supply and sanitation for the inhabitants of the DPR, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions can be found on the Ministry of Construction of the official website.
Reminder, that in the Donetsk People’s Republic tariffs for housing and communal services have not risen since 2014. Earlier, the head of DPR Alexander Zakharchenko said that he would sign a decree to control the growth of tariffs for communal services in the Republic. He emphasized that in the future leadership of the country will continue to “keep the tariffs low in order to ensure the normal life of the people.”
