Mohsen Rezai, secretary of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council, responded to the comments made by the former US Secretary of State John Kerry about some countries in the region allegedly demanding the US to bomb Iran.

“it is not the first time the Saudis have resorted to inciting others against Iran, noting they also instigated the former Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq to wage a war against Iran and which lasted 8 years”, Rezai was heard saying.

He also stressed the ruling clan of Saudi Arabia will be subjected to lose if it will not take into account lessons from the past.

During the session at the 2017 Oslo Forum, John Kerry said the world is witnessing conflicts and crises on a more rapid level than ever before in modern history, from North Korea to the Middle East, namely Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria.

Kerry pointed out that it is clear there is no military solution to these conflicts, adding that all parties involved, Russia and Saudi Arabia including, agreed that there must be a political solution, but the question is how to reach a political solution if there is a series of unilateral choices which would escalate the conflict, adding that strong leadership and determined will are of the utmost importance here.

He also said the proposal of the Iranian Foreign Minister on establishing a regional security arrangement has reasonable grounds, however, according to himself, it would be necessary that Iran guarantees its uranium program will not go in direction of militarization.

He then said the nuclear crisis could have escalated as some rulers in the Middle East were asking the Obama administration to bomb Iran as the only solution to resolve the crisis, however, the US decided to chose the path of dialogue, which ended with the nuclear deal being reached, a thing that made the world considerably safer.

“Can you imagine what would happen if the current conflict escalates to the nuclear arms race?”, Kerry asked.

The Iranian Foreign Minister responded, by saying Iran is fully committed to the nuclear deal and its important for the remaining parties to take their responsibilities towards it.
