Manifestations and protests in Kiev along with popular opposition forces in front of the Ukrainian Parliament (Rada) to defend the existence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate
On May 18, bills number N4128 and N4511, aimed at the elimination and illegalizing of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Moscow in Ukraine were on the agenda of the Ukrainian Parliament.
A step that transgresses the norms of Ukraine’s international obligations, and a flagrant violation of the constitutional guarantee of non-interference in Church affairs and the protection of the rights of believers.
By violating the constitutional procedures for the adoption of laws, it is obviously an act intended to foment on a large scale the heavy aggravation of the bloody conflict in the Donbass.
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada are making a very dangerous political provocation if these laws will be adopted, but affecting more than the peoples of Donbass: in the same Ukraine there are millions of COU, faithful to the PO of Moscow.
Though demonstrations were banned, the faithful, and also secular personalities of the popular opposition, expressed their protest with a peaceful demonstration up to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, where they held a prayer service.
