The presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip, discussed the acute situation of Qatar , calling on all interested countries to engage in dialogue in order to find a compromise in the framework of peace and stability in the Gulf region.
Putin and Erdogan also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the restoration of bilateral economic and trade relations and the implementation of gas pipeline “Turkish Stream”.
The conversation was initiated by the Turkish side.
Earlier, some Middle Eastern states announced that they were suspending air, sea, and land transport with Qatar, while Qatari citizens are required to return home within two weeks. In late May, Qatar criticised America, offering support for Iran and reaffirming Qatar’s support for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
