The Russian President has arrived in Astana to take part in the meeting of heads of states – members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reports Interfax.

At the summit in the capital of Kazakhstan will be the leaders of the SCO, between June 8-9.  Putin will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, after which the head of state will take part in an informal part of the summit.

As expected, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will discuss bilateral issues, as well as the North Korean nuclear issue.

According to presidential aide, Yury Ushakov, a rather short meeting is expected, that will focus on the issue of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the SCO, and how the two may be affected by the problems on the Korean peninsula.

The brevity of the forthcoming meeting is explained by the fact that the main discussion of all relevant aspects of Russia and China relations will be held during the official visit of President Xi, which will be held on July 3-4 in Moscow.

The Council of Heads of SCO member states will be held on Friday. According to the presidential aide, the summit will be the key event of the accession of India and Pakistan to the organization.
