“Yesterday’s downing of a Syrian military jet in the countryside of Raqqah province by the US-led international anti-ISIS coalition is a step towards dangerous escalation”, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday, warning Washington against any further use of military force against Syrian forces.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed his country’s concern over escalation of tensions anddiscomfort with the latest US act of aggression.

“With much concern and annoyance we received the news of the downing of a Syrian Air Force jet, a thing which is a new step towards dangerous escalation”, Ryabkov was heard saying

He then issued a warning to Washington, should there be any more of such actions.

On Sunday, the Syrian Army General Command issued a statement, saying that US Air Force was responsible for the downing of a Syrian military jet right when it was conducting anti-ISIS operations in Raqqah province.

The statement also said the incident proves the US openly backs ISIS.

The US has verified its act of aggression, saying the jet flew too close to the area of Al Rusafah, where the US-backed groups are stationed.

The General Command also said no foreign power has the right to conduct any kind of operations without prior approval from the government in Damascus.

The pilot of the downed jet was later rescued in a special operation, conducted by the Tiger Forces, an elite unit of the Syrian Army.
