Syrian forces discovered large quantities of stored weapons in several depots throughout the eastern Damascene district of Tishreen.

A source at the Syrian Interior Ministry confirmed that Syrian Armed Forces and their engineering units are currently searching the district (which came under Army control last month) for any landmines, improvised explosive devices and booby-trapped objects, left over by the terrorists.

Once the work is done, the residents will finally be able to return to their homes.

The source also pointed out that so far several weapon depots, containing guns, mortars and improvised explosive devices, were found right next to where there used to be the headquarters of terrorist groups, previously stationed there, and who would frequently target the residential areas in Damascus with mortars and rockets.

On the 13th of May, units of the Syrian Army began sweeping the district of Tishreen and search for any dangerous leftovers.

The district was previously occupied by terrorist groups who have since left the district, due to a ceasefire agreement that further covered the problematic districts of Barzeh and Al Qaboun.
