Recently, the US renewed sanctions against Russia, immediately imitated by Germany. The move, however, has been criticized by many voices in Europe, including Germany’s Foreign Minister and Austria’s Chancellor.

“The point is that many farmers and industrialists in Germany suffer losses as a result of these sanctions,” claimed Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, in an interview with Tass.

“That’s why their discontent is understandable and explainable.” Peskov added: “As before, [sanctions] can do harm not only to us, but also to those who support these sanctions and all those who adhere to them. “

In Italy, in 2015, the damage caused by Russian counter-fines exceeded 3.6 billion euros. An average decline of about 36% compared to 2013.

The most affected sectors are automotive (-60% compared to 2013), metal products (-36%), foodstuffs (-34%) and clothing (-31%).

Italian exports to Russia declined further by around 14% in 2016

Meanwhile, on the Russian markets, Italian counterfeit products spread, as well as the products of other countries that have not adhered to sanctions, such as Chinese tomatoes.

It will be difficult to recover the lost ground once the crazy war of counter-sanctions is over.
