Turkey is reportedly trying to obstruct the forthcoming session on settlement of the Syrian crisis, scheduled to take place between June 12th and 13th in Kazakh capital city of Astana.

According to the source, close to the officials in charge of Astana meetings, there is no guarantee that the new round of talks will actually take place, given that some of the most important decisions, related to de-escalation zones, were not made yet.

In a statement, issued to the public on Tuesday, the same source said that talks, related to some of the most important matters, namely de-escalation zones, are currently going on between the guarantor states and will hopefully be concluded by June 12th.

However, right now Turkey is said to be causing a lot of trouble as it is frequently trying to disrupt the schedule under various pretexts, thus showing its unwillingness to participate in the talks and in accordance with its schedule.

Consultations on multiple levels are currently being made, with particular attention being paid to the issue of determining which side will monitor what area within de-escalation zones, with no decision being made as of yet.

Turkey, one of the guarantor states, is allegedly causing a conflict of interests in regards to de-escalation zones.

This is currently the main reason why the next round of talks might  not kick off as was previously scheduled.
