MOSCOW, July 11 (Itar-Tass) – RIA Novosti. British warships, including the newest aircraft carrier, Queen Elizabeth, are vulnerable to modern Russian and Chinese weapons, writes The Telegraph citing a report prepared by the analytical center Royal United Services Institute.

According to the analysts, Russia and China have high-precision weapons, which pose a serious threat to surface ships, large aircraft, and ground weapons, including the most armored ones.

In addition, Western countries can not fully rely on satellite communications systems, the report says. Russian and Chinese missiles are capable of disabling satellite communications and positioning systems, which the armed forces of Western countries rely on.

“The missiles, which cost much less than half a million pounds sterling per unit, can at least disable the British aircraft carrier, which costs more than 3 billion,” the authors of the report warn.

The aircraft carrier is Queen Elizabeth in the east of Scotland before the beginning of the sea trials.

The report also notes that since 2003, the amount of funding allocated by the British Ministry of Defense for research and development fell by 27%, and the budget for development was cut by more than half.

The aircraft carrier “Queen Elizabeth” is the largest warship in the history of Great Britain. According to the media, its value exceeded three billion pounds sterling. British Defense Minister Michael Fallon said that Russia will envy the new aircraft carrier. In response, the Russian Defense Ministry called Queen Elizabeth a “convenient target.”
