Iranian President Hassan Rouhani responded to the latest batch of US sanctions, imposed on particular Iranian business entities and individuals, saying they contradict the purpose of the nuclear deal, adding that Iran will respond appropriately.

During Wednesday’s government session, Rouhani noted that sanctions not only violate the principles of the nuclear deal, but also various international laws and declarations of human rights, adding that Iran is preparing an appropriate response.

“Surely, if the Americans seek to apply sanctions against us under whatever title or pretext, the great nation of Iran would aptly respond to them,” Rouhani was heard saying.

He then pointed to the dangerous role the US is playing to the region amid its efforts to undermine the international agreements Iran has made and destabilize the country.

For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that a decision was made to respond in an appropriate way by imposing sanctions on  certain American entities and individuals, considered hostile to Iran and its people.

In a response to Washington’s accusations that Iran is testing the missiles, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran does not have nuclear warheads and has therefore not designed any missiles, capable of carrying them.

He also said Iran might withdraw from the nuclear deal, should the need for that ever arises.

Recently, The US Department of State imposed sanctions on 18 Iranian entities and individuals, believed to be linked to the Iranian ballistic missile program, saying the sanctioned ones pose a grave danger for security and stability in the region.
