Speaking at the opening of the MAKS-2017 airshow, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the country’s strong position in military aviation and aerospace, and promised to develop the ongoing potential of these sectors.
According to the President, the development of aviation and space exploration has always interested Russian society, and the history of Russian cosmonautics and aviation industry are the subject of national pride.
Characterizing the Russian aerospace industry as a whole, Putin said that Russia has a lot to offer. “In recent years, the aerospace complex has received government support, conducting major upgrades to facilitate new competitive civil engineering”, – said the president.
The President drew attention to the development of domestic producers of the Ka-62, as well as medium-range airliner MS-21. Putin stressed that the next few days the airfield will be home to an extensive exhibition, which will feature presentations by leading Russian and foreign companies, with a conference and seminars due to take place, as well as talks between representatives to sign contracts.
