Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in the modern world, protectionism is becoming the norm, and the sanctions in trade and investment is how it is being hidden.
Putin believes that the pre-existing model of the international economy has been exhausted, where sanctions are simply protectionism – it is a manifestation of secret effects of sanctions on economic opponents. More so, when restrictions on trade, technology and investment are applied due to political interests of the initiators of the sanctions.
“The old economic model is almost exhausted, protectionism becomes the norm, and its latent form becomes one-sided”
The Head of State stressed that this type restrictions are not consistent with the principles of the G20 (let alone the work of the WTO) and are harmful to all countries of the world.
According to the president, only the public, based on common rules and standards for trade relations stimulate the growth of the global economy, and contribute to the progressive development of bilateral relations.
