Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told Ria Novosti that despite the many years of work in US organisations, she isn’t ‘pro-American’.

Friday, Brnabic held the first meeting of the Serbian government as its legitimate president, after the election of deputies of the State Parliament’s House of Representatives.

“I am not pro-Russian or pro-American. I am the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, and I dedicate myself entirely and exclusively to the welfare of Serbia”, she said.

The President expressed her gratitude to former Prime Minister and current Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic for the “friendship with China, where we have more investors”, and also for the opening of a dialogue and a new phase of cooperation with India, and for “the relationship of friendship, even at personal level” with the United Arab Emirates.

“I was elected to work for Serbia”,  Brnabic pointed out, who – besides for being believed to be Western-leaning in politics – is a member of the Serbian Progressive Party. The PM was born on September 28, 1975 in Belgrade. She studied  at University of Hull in Great Britain and worked with international organisations, foreign investors, local authorities, and state agencies in Serbia for over 10 years.

She was the advisor to US companies that implemented projects in Serbia with funds from the US Agency for International Development, USAID, and other international projects. Awarded ‘Businesswoman of the year” in Serbia in 2013, she became Minister of Public Administration in August 2016.
