Syrian forces and Hezbollah made huge advancements today while conducting operations against Tahrir Al Sham/Al Nusra Front terrorists in the southwestern region of Qalamoun and alongside the Lebanese border.

According to the field reports, a control was taken over Rahwa Plains and the key strategic hilltop of Dahret Al Haweh, located in the vicinity of the Lebanese border crossing leading towards the Lebanese town of Arsal.

Syrian military sources claim, units of the Syrian Republican Guard and Hezbollah destroyed at least one Al Nusra/Tahrir Al Sham communications facility in Rahwa Plains, in addition to annihilation of more than 15 Al Nusra/Tahrir Al Sham terrorists before assuming complete control of the area.

Following capture of Rahwa Plains and Dahret Al Haweh, units of the Syrian Army and Hezbollah seized control over Wadi Daqiq and Wadi Zarzour near Faleeta Barrens, during which severe damage was inflicted upon Al Nusra/Tahrir Al Sham’s defense lines.

Syrian Forces and Hezbollah are now targeting Wadi Kheel area, another strategically important site in the hands of Al Nusra/Tahrir Al Sham.

The liberation of Dahret Al Haweh, the most important site around the area of Arsal, opens the path towards Wadi Al Khair and Wadi Al Dab.

The Syrian Air Force planes carried out several raids on the positions of the jihadists in the villages of Qalamoun Mountains.

Field reports claim Syrian forces and Hezbollah also carried out series of intense artillery strikes against Tahrir/Al Nusra Front positions in the surrounding areas of the Lebanese town of Arsal, in addition to targeting terrorists in the heights of Dilil and the surrounding areas of Faleeta in Western Qalamoun.

The attack started from two axes in multiple directions for each axis, the first one from the Syrian town of Faleeta towards Tahrir/Al Nusra sites in Qardoun in the western Qalamoun, and the second from south of Arsal towards Tahrir/Al Nusra positions the heights, located north and east of Arsal.

Field sources also claim that Abu Malek Al Tali, local Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham leader, was attempting to leave the area for Turkey so that Hezbollah can take over,  but demanded to take his assets, worth $30 million with him, however, the negotiations, despite  mediation by Sheikh Mustafa Al Hajiri (Abu Takiya), failed, so the only thing remaining was a military confrontation.

In a similar context, Tahrir/Al Nusra and Saraya Ahl Al Sham terrorists are exchanging accusations of attempts to include IDP camps in the confrontations.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese government has finally decided to take tougher measures against the terrorists.

After a long political debate, the Lebanese government eventually decided to provide full cover for the army amid the start of a operation in Arsal area, and which was later confirmed by Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

The Lebanese Army is yet to determine exact date of the start of the operation.
