“We regret that some of our Western partners do not want to categorically ensure balanced management level organization, by a very strong candidate, which Belarus has put forward. Their representative in Vienna is Madame [Helena] Kupchina. We believe she is a very strong candidate.”

Lavrov also stressed that the preservation of the “vacuum” in that capacity “is not conducive to effective steps of the OSCE.”; “But discrimination against countries that are east of Vienna, above all, the CIS countries, for appointment to senior positions – a phenomenon that should be overcome. In private conversations, the vast majority of my colleagues agree with this”, – concluded the Minister.
