Russia to Display Weapons Seized From Terrorists in Syria

Chief of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Research and Engineering Support for Advanced Technologies, Alexander Mironov said a decision was made to demonstrate the counter-terrororism activities of the Russian forces in Syria, and weapons seized from terrorists, in scope of the The Army-2017 forum, scheduled to take place between 22nd and 27th of August. 

Mironov said the main events of the upcoming forum will include a presentation in the Patriot Park, which will be dedicated to the activities of the Russian forces, currently stationed in the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as the exhibition of weapons, seized from various terrorist groups operating in Syria.

More than 1200 participants from Russia, China, Pakistan, Slovakia, South Africa, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have already announced their presence at the event which will occupy the space of the Patriot congress and exhibition center, the Alabino practice range, the Kubinka airfield, all Russian military districts, as well as the Northern Fleet.

The event, which was organized for the first time back in 2015, will also provide  opportunities to sign contracts on purchasing weapons and equipment.

Last year, the total value of the contracts was estimated to be about $ 2.1 billion.
