Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted a significant increase in the flow of tourists from Russia to Thailand, during his trip to the South East Asian country.
“Speaking of tourism, we are pleased to note that this year in the first five months, the number of Russians who have visited Thailand has increased by 37%,” Lavrov said after meeting with Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramavinay.
“We have no doubt that soon we will beat the record level of visits by Russian tourists to this country; currently 2014 holds the record which amounted to 1.6 million people,” the minister said.
Lavrov also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the investment sphere and announced plans to hold a meeting of the Russian-Thai intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation before the end of the year.
